Introduction of the Forum

Maritime Silk Road International Cultural Forum

In 2019, Macao joined the Cities Alliance of Maritime Silk Road Conservation and World Heritage Nomination. As a member of the Alliance, the S.A.R. government has actively participated in and promoted the implementation of works regarding Maritime Silk Road World Heritage nomination, and has continued to work on Maritime Silk Road historical sites conservation and research, display and use, monitoring and management, publicity and promotion, as well as on the relevant exchanges and cooperation.

In November this year, the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao S.A.R. Government and the National Cultural Heritage Administration will co-organize The Maritime Silk Road International Cultural Forum, inviting experts and scholars both from home and abroad who specialize in this subject and representatives of city members of the Cities Alliance of Maritime Silk Road Conservation and World Heritage Nomination, to meet in Macao to share the latest research achievements, in order to promote exchange and interaction and mutual learning. The organization of the Forum will further enhance Macao's role as "an exchange and cooperation base with Chinese culture as the mainstream, co-existing with different cultures." and its positive involvement in and contribution to the construction of the "Belt and Road".

There are also a series of wonderful outreach activities including an online exhibition, guided tours of historic sites related to the Maritime Silk Road in Macau and Parent-child workshops. Please stay tuned.
