The lane was created during 1920s and named Travessa da Paixãoin 1925, an original Portuguese name which implies passionate feeling and respect for religion at the time, due to its visual connection with the Ruins of St. Paul’s. However, in Chinese, “Love Lane” the meaning of this lane is romantic and associated with love.
