SM005-D. Maria II Hill

Location: Macau
Category: Sites

The top of this hill reaches a height of 48.2 metres. In the past, towards the Northeast of this hill, on the sea, there was a rock formation named Ma Kau Seac, which disappeared, with the nearby hill later adopting its name. At the bottom of the North-eastern slope, Tin Hau Temple is located and at the top we find D. Maria II Fortress, which was bombarded by American planes during the War of the Pacific, in 1945. On the Eastern slope of the hill there is a piece of land with many trees and areas that are covered with grass, enabling the use of the site as a recreational area for the population, who can also enjoy a good view towards the seaside.
