St. Lazarus Quarter includes Rua do Volong, Rua Nova de São Lázaro, Rua de São Roque, Rua de São Miguel, Calçada de Igreja de São Lázaro, Adro da Igreja de São Lázaro, Rua Eduardo Marques, B. de São Lázaro and Pátio de São Lázaro. The St. Lazarus Quarter was once the residential area of the Chinese Catholics. In the late 19th century, the Macao Government drew up plans to regulate construction in this area, to construct well-arranged houses and streets. Recently, St. Lazarus Quarter was renovated and some of the roads were paved in stone. European style streetlamps have been installed reminding people of the way the area originally looked.
