    Dom Pedro V Theater partially closed for a short period

    The second review for the 2013 Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will take place on October 26, 2013, at the Dom Pedro V Theater. The programme has drawn an enthusiastic response, receiving a total of 27 applications, from which 15 fashion design works have been selected for second review, after a first round selection.

    Chapel of St. Francis Xavier in Coloane to undergo restoration

    The Cultural Affairs Bureau (CAB) will begin restoration works in the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier, in Coloane, on August 22. The Chapel will be closed during these works, which the CAB intends to finish at the end of November, in order to minimize disruptions and inconveniences to residents and tourists.

    Fantasy World - Chinoiserie Exhibition Extended One Week

    Organised by Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Fantasy World - Chinoiserie exhibition has attracted a large number of local residents and tourists since opening in May. Taking into account the approaching summer holidays, the exhibition has extended its stay in the city until the afternoon of 25th August 2013, a week longer than the original closing date of 18th August 2013, in order to enable more people to appreciate these precious exhibits. Everybody is welcome to visit.

    Cultural Affairs Bureau celebrates China Cultural Heritage Day

    In celebration of China Cultural Heritage Day, observed this year on June 8th, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (CAB) has organised a series of activities and promotions, including themed exhibitions, crafts demonstrations, concerts, song and dance performances, lectures, guided tours and free admission to various attractions, with the aim of raising public awareness about the need to preserve and transmit cultural heritage, promote its value and spread knowledge about its numerous culturally significant items.

    Journey to the Ends of the World: Michele Ruggieri and Jesuits in China Exhibition opens on Wednesday

    Jointly organised by the Macao Museum, under the direction of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, and the National Archives of Rome, the exhibition Journey to the Ends of the World: Michele Ruggieri and Jesuits in China opened in the Museum’s lobby at 5:00pm on Wednesday 28th November. The exhibition - a project enlisted in the China-European Union Year of Intercultural Dialogue is organised by the Ministry of Culture. The exhibition is open to the public from 29th November 2012 to 3rd March 2013.

    Macao Museum Opens Earlier during Summer

    Once the summer vacation starts, quite a lot of parents will take their kids to travel, leading to an increase in the number of individual travelers. For the convenience of citizens and visitors, the Macao Museum is going to have a trial to open 30 minutes earlier from 31st July to 7th October in this summer. The opening hour will be changed from 10:00 to 09:30.

    Historical Archives of Macao celebrates
    China Cultural Heritage Day and International Archives Day

    The Historical Archives of Macao of the Cultural Affairs Bureau is holding a series of activities from June 9 (this Saturday) to celebrate the China Cultural Heritage Day and International Archives Day. Members of the public are welcome to participate. The activities include an archival exhibition titled "Witness to Macao History – Chan Tai Pak’s Recollections of over Half a Century", thematic lectures, a workshop on record preservation and conservation and a workshop on oral history.

In observance of the auspicious occasion, the Cultural Affairs Bureau is offering a series of diverse activities including themed shows, workshops, a poster exhibition, concerts, lectures, folk arts demonstrations, special docent services and free admission to various attractions and exhibition venues. In organising these delightful activities, the Cultural Affairs Bureau continues its ongoing effort to raise awareness of conservation and cultural heritage among the general public.

    Cultural Affairs Bureau to Install Signposts for Cultural Sites in Mong Ha District

    The cultural heritage of Macao's Mong Ha District is abundant and evident throughout the area. To better explain the history and value of this district's cultural sites and to assist tourists with directions and navigation, the Cultural Affairs Bureau has completed a preliminary installation of informative signposts. Currently, 13 locations of historical and cultural value are marked with the new signposts.
