    Consuls accredited to Hong Kong and Macau attend the 25th Macao Arts Festival

    On 1 June, Sunday, members of the consular corps accredited to Hong Kong and Macao visited the territory to attend the 25th Macao Arts Festival (MAF). The trip, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), included visits to the exhibition Collotype • Recurrence – Spatial Convergence of John Thomson and Wong Ho Sang held at the Macao Museum as well as the Pak Tai Temple, in front of which they had the chance to watch two films in the Dance Dome - 360° Cinema Experience, included in the Festival’s programme.

    St. Dominic’s Church to Undergo Restoration

    The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) will undertake restoration works in St. Dominic’s Church from 15th May, which are scheduled to be completed in early September. During this period, parts of the Church will be temporarily closed but the Treasure of Sacred Art next to the Church will be open as usual. The IC will minimise the impact on residents and visitors during the restoration.

    Cultural Heritage Protection Law Promotion Works Launch Ceremony

    In order to promote the entry into force of the Cultural Heritage Protection Law on 1 March, the Cultural Affairs Bureau organised a Cultural Heritage Protection Law Promotion Works Launch Ceremony on Thursday 27 February, at 4pm, at the Mandarin’s House, with the motto “Protect Historical Traces, Share Cultural Heritage”, thereby officially launching these works.

    Macao Orchestra presents concerts in World Heritage Sites

    The Macao Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, presents two concerts from the series “Music Journey into the Heritage Sites”, namely a “Jazz Concert” and a “Pop Music Concert”, thereby celebrating with the public the arrival of the Year of the Horse. Admission is free for both concerts.

    A group of 40 local students has been invited by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the General Association of Chinese Students of Macau to participate in a large-scale youth exchange event in Hong Kong, namely the ‘MaD Forum’. The event will be held from 10th to 12th January 2014 at the Kwai Tsing Theatre. The organisers hope local youngsters will be able to explore their potential through the event, realise social problems from different perspectives, embrace their creativity and develop their innovation so that a forward-looking and creative community can be built.

    Exhibition Possibilities – Introducing Polish Poetry in Macao opens at Old Court Building

    To further facilitate exchanges in literature, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR and Ox Warehouse have jointly organised the exhibition Possibilities – Introducing Polish Poetry in Macao. The opening ceremony will take place in the Old Court Building at 6:30pm on Friday, 29th November 2013. Co-organising the exhibition are the Wisława Szymborska Foundation, Trans-Pacyfik Studio Sp.z.o.o. and Les Moutons Sans Souci Films Co., Ltd.

    Cultural Affairs Bureau selects companies from the Database for Macao Cultural and Creative Industries to be present at the Mandarin House Cultural Relics Info Center and Gift Shop

    Since its opening in February 2010 as a Macao World Heritage site, the Mandarin House has attracted a great number of visitors, tourists and local residents alike. To enhance public interest and in a bid to maximize this renowned cultural attraction as a window for local creativity and designs, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (CAB) has established the Mandarin House Cultural Relics Info Center and Gift Shop, to market not only publications written by or themed on renowned Chinese philosopher Zheng Guanying, but also Mandarin House-inspired souvenirs, publications and design items by the CAB, and products on consignment of Macao’s cultural and creative brands.

    “Parade through Macao, Latin City”

    The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. will hold the “Parade through Macao, Latin City” in commemoration of the 14th Anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China on December 20th, the day marking the establishment of the Macao S.A.R. The Parade is once again held under the slogans “Peace, Love and Cultural Integration” and “An annual celebration for the entire city – VIVA!”, and this year is themed “The Rhythm of Life”, hoping to attract even more residents and tourists and inviting them to dig deep into the diverse cultural atmosphere of Macao.
