Alteration of the closing hours of the Mandarin’s House on 7 November

Due to the staging of the performance “An Encounter with Zheng Guanying”, integrated in the Pioneer Project of the Cultural Promotion Ambassador Programme, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, to be held on 7 November at the Mandarin’s House, the House will close at 4:30pm on that day.
Cultural Affairs Bureau conducts regular weeding and inspection of the bronze statues of the façade of the Ruins of St. Paul’s

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will conduct regular weeding and perform an inspection of the bronze statues of the Ruins of St. Paul’s from 6am to 6pm on 27 October 2020 (Tuesday). In order to ensure public safety, the forecourt and the monument’s site (including the Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt) will be closed to the public. During the aforementioned period, barricades will be temporarily placed in front of the Ruins of St. Paul’s, separating the intervention area from the public, with access restrictions that should be taken into account by residents and tourists who visit the area.
Mount Fortress Garden and General Ye Ting’s House reopen to the public on Saturday

Due to the influence of typhoon Higos, fallen trees and broken tree branches were found in the Mount Fortress Garden and in the garden of General Ye Ting’s House, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. After a thorough inspection and cleaning, the abovementioned cultural facilities will reopen to the public from Saturday (22 August). Cultural Affairs Bureau launches the program “International Call for Macanese Cuisine Recipes”

In 2017, Macao was designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Macanese cuisine stands out for its uniqueness and for its respective culinary skills, and is part of the city’s invaluable int錨點angible cultural heritage, also playing an active role in Macao's sustainable development. In order to preserve and promote Macanese cuisine, the Cultural Affairs Bureau has launched the program “International Call for Macanese Cuisine Recipes” today, which aims to enrich the “Macanese Cuisine Database” that is being established by the SAR Government for the future, and to help facilitate further studies and consolidate records about culinary arts.
Maintenance of the typhoon signal light at the Mount Fortress

The Cultural Affairs Bureau has conducted a routine inspection of the typhoon signal light at the Mount Fortress Garden. It was found that the signal light is not functioning properly and cannot be used to hoist the tropical cyclone signals and the strong monsoon signal for the time being. Therefore, maintenance works will be carried out between 14 and 16 August.

Macao Becomes a Member of the Organisation of World Heritage Cities

Organised by the Macao SAR Government and the Organisation of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), the “Ceremony of the Affiliation of Macao Special Administrative Region in the OWHC”was held via video-conferencing in Macao on 7 August. During the ceremony, the OWHC presented the certificate of membership to the Macao SAR, which was represented by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Ao Ieong U. Following Suzhou and Dujiangyan City, Macao has now become the third city in China to join the OWHC. Macao’s membership in the OWHC will facilitate access to international information on World Heritage preservation and participation in relevant events learning from one another’s experience with respect to the preservation of world heritage properties, thereby further raising Macao’s international profile as a World Heritage city.
Hotline service of the platform “Information from the Public about Macao’s Cultural Heritage” will be suspended temporarily in the afternoon of 21 July due to system maintenance

The hotline service will be temporarily suspended during this period of time. Cultural Affairs Bureau hosts over 30 activities to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the inscription of the “Historic Centre of Macao” on the World Heritage List

Counting with the total support of the Central Government, the “Historic Centre of Macao” was inscribed on the World Heritage List with unanimous support during the 29th Session of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee on 15 July 2005, thus becoming the 31st World Heritage site in China. The inscription is a profound and momentous achievement for the Macao SAR after its handover to China. On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the inscription of the Historic Centre of Macao on the World Heritage List this year, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) seeks to spread the spirit of “Protecting and Appreciating Our World Heritage Together” through a variety of celebratory activities, thereby introducing to the public the connection between world heritage and their daily lives.
