    Introduction to Restoration Course Ended

    The “Introduction to Restoration Course – Summer 2004”, organized by the Macao Museum, has already ended. Combining theories with practices, the course teaches students the basic techniques of the different types of cultural heritage restoration in Macao.

    Cultural Heritage Young Journalist Summer Course Opened

    The “Cultural Heritage Young Journalist Summer Course” opened on July 10. After interviews, 31 young journalists were selected. Dressed in Macao World Cultural Heritage’s T-shirt, the journalists put their hand imprints on a banner and took an oath to promote heritage preservation.

    Private benefactors contribute to the enlargement of Macao Museum’s collection

    A number of donations from private benefactors have been made to the Cultural Institute of the Macao SAR Administration since the beginning of the year. A total of about 132 artefacts have been donated, all of which are sent to Macao Museum.

    UNESCO’s 32nd General Conference

    Macao is represented at the 32nd General Conference of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation), which is taking place in Paris until 17 October.

    ICOMOS Asia Pacific Regional Meeting

    The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Asia Pacific Regional Meeting was held in Beijing on July 10. In the Meeting, the Cultural Institute introduced Macao’s cultural heritage to the World Heritage Committee’s appraisal experts.

    New Element of Cultural Heritage Logo
    Vivid Turtle Promotes Love for Relics

    This year was assigned the “Macao Cultural Heritage Preservation Year”. In order to induce teenagers and children’s love for cultural heritage, the Cultural Institute has added a vivid turtle on the original cultural heritage logo to symbolize “protection” and “long life”.

    Macao Artists Participate in World Heritage Paintings Exhibition

    On June 28, a group of 13 Macao artists went to Suzhou to attend the 28th Session of the World Heritage Committee’s International Calligraphies and Paintings Exhibition. Alice Wong, Acting President of the Cultural Institute (IC), gave them a good send-off. The 28th Session of the World Heritage Committee is held from June 28 to July 7 in Suzhou, China.
