    17/06/2015

Macao possesses an abundance of cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible. The 5th annual China Cultural Heritage Day will be observed this year on Saturday, 12th June, and to celebrate this auspicious occasion the Cultural Affairs Bureau has organised a series of activities. These include a seminar, an exhibition, a concert and an intangible cultural heritage display, all centred on the theme ‘Cultural heritage-the Fabric of our Lives’. Exhibition halls and world heritage sites will also be opened to the public, encouraging residents to seek a better understanding of Macao’s cultural heritage.

Beginning in 2006, to further enhance the preservation and promotion of China’s cultural heritage the State Council of the People’s Republic of China designated the second Saturday in June as China Cultural Heritage Day. The theme of this year’s China Cultural Heritage Day is ‘Cultural heritage-the Fabric of our Lives’. The Macao Museum, an entity created under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will display the Masterpieces of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – Cantonese Opera Photographs Exhibition in the Mount Fortress Corridor from 12th June to 12th September. The Seminar on the Preservation, Passing Down and Development of Cantonese Opera, held in parallel with the exhibition, invites famous Cantonese Opera actors, experts, scholars and representatives of conservation institutions in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to conduct joint discussions on the passing down and development of Cantonese Opera, an invaluable heritage item that has been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
