Cultural Institute Promotes Macao Heritage Net and Macao Art Net During IT Week

The “2004 IT Week”, with the theme “IT and Environmental Protection”, will be held from today (October 8) in the Exhibition Hall located on the second floor of the Macao Tower. The Cultural Institute was invited by the organizer to join the “Electronic Government Area” for three consecutive days, in which the Institute will exhibit its “Macao Heritage Net” and “Macao Art Net”, and to promote cultural heritage conservation. Moreover, the on-line quiz designed for “The Historic Monuments of Macao” booklet will be introduced. Booklets and bookmarks will also be distributed during the exhibition.

Due to fast developing techniques, the Cultural Institute has established not only a website for the Institute, but also the “Macao Art Net” and “Macao Heritage Net” to reduce the distance between local residents and cultural art. Residents can learn more about their services through immediate access to the two websites at the Cultural Institute’s booth set in the “Electronic Government Area”. The “Macao Art Net” contains up-to-date information, on-line exhibitions, an interactive forum, reviews, on-line database, videos, electronic greeting cards and graphics.

The Cultural Institute’s launching of the “Macao Heritage Net” is of great significance to the “2004 Macao Cultural Heritage Preservation Year”. The website contains up-to-date information about cultural heritage, introduction to the Macao Heritage, forum, legislation and on-line resources. News and activities related to the Cultural Heritage Preservation Year will also be published immediately on the website.

Furthermore, the on-line quiz especially designed for the newly published “The Historic Monuments of Macao” booklet will be introduced tomorrow. Residents may register their membership in the Cultural Institute’s website ( before playing the game at the booth so as to save time waiting. The Cultural Institute, after testing the “Macao Heritage Net”, will hold a “Macao Heritage Net” launching ceremony tomorrow (October 9) at 11:30 am in the Exhibition Hall.
