Website disguised as the Macao Museum to collect works of art is discovered

On 5 June 2015, it has come to the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s (IC) attention that a website named “Macau China” has been developing activities of collection of art works on behalf of the Macao Museum and of the 26th Macao Arts Festival. The website claims to have been entrusted by the Macao Museum the task to collect works from museums from all over the country, including porcelain, jade, calligraphy and paintings, among others, adding that such collection is on a long-term basis. After learning these facts the Cultural Affairs Bureau contacted the police immediately to follow up on the matter. Any information on cultural and artistic activities launched by the Cultural Affairs Bureau will be posted on its website. IC asks the population to remain vigilant in order to avoid fraud.
