Exhibition Possibilities – Introducing Polish Poetry in Macao opens at Old Court Building

    17/06/2015

The First Asian Exhibition of Nobel Prize for Literature Laureate Wisława Szymborska

To further facilitate exchanges in literature, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR and Ox Warehouse have jointly organised the exhibition Possibilities – Introducing Polish Poetry in Macao. The opening ceremony will take place in the Old Court Building at 6:30pm on Friday, 29th November 2013. Co-organising the exhibition are the Wisława Szymborska Foundation, Trans-Pacyfik Studio Sp.z.o.o. and Les Moutons Sans Souci Films Co., Ltd.

The art works of exceptional contemporary Polish poets will be exhibited, embracing 25 original collages by Nobel Prize for Literature laureate Wisława Szymborska, displayed for the first time in Asia.  The exhibition will also include anthologies, recordings of poetry readings and documentaries by and on Szymborska and renowned poet Tadeusz Różewicz. Through related activities, such as talks on literature and poetry readings, the exhibition seeks to deeply and broadly enhance the understanding of the public of Polish literature, especially contemporary Polish poetry, in a historical and cultural context, thereby widening the public’s literary and artistic horizons and promoting reading habits.

The exhibition allows visitors to take a glimpse into the profound humanistic concern of Polish poets, as well as how they find delight and poetry in the ordinary. Transcending the limitation of language, their works reveal the possibilities of literature across different regions and borders. Alongside the works on display, several local poets, musicians, dancers and designers have been invited to employ different media and create original pieces related to Polish and Macao poetry in the hope of broadening the field of literature creation, showing their innovative imagination and extraordinary creativity as well as reinforcing social concerns about the creation of literature.

Possibilities – Introducing Polish Poetry in Macao will run from 30th November to 31st December, 2013, at the Old Court Building, daily from 10am to 7pm. Admission is free .
