    AM028-Cathedral Square, No. 1

    Location: Macao

    Category: Buildings of architectural interest

Introduction: Nos. 1, 3, 5, Largo da Sé

The buildings currently serve as the headquarters and offices of the Macao Roman Catholic Diocese. With a simple form, the main façade is correspondingly divided into five identical patterns by twin-pilaster columns, creating a distinctive facade rhythm. These pilasters follow classical architectural orders, where the lower level is adorned with plain, strong and massive Tuscan order pilasters. Meanwhile, the upper level is featured with Tuscan-like, fluted Doric order pilasters. Together, these give the building a stable and refined appearance.

    Architectural characteristics:

The façade of the house has kept its original appearance, although the walls have been repainted and the interior setting has totally changed.
